Hello from the Patch,
Well the bushes bloomed and the bees were very busy. We were very surprised by the amount of bloom and now forming berries there are on all the bushes. I guess Mother Nature fooled us. It looked like most of the buds were freeze damaged, and we are not sure that all the berries will ripen, but things are looking a lot better than we thought.
That being said we anticipate opening the last week of June or the first week of July.
If all goes as planned we will be setting up at the new Hillsville Farmers Market this summer
instead of the Citgo station.
We hope to see you either picking your own at the Patch or visiting us at the Farmers Market.

Deer Haven blueberry patch was planted in the spring of 2011. We are located in Carroll County in southwest Virginia on 15 acres of rural mountain land. Our patch was developed on one acre of that land and was planted with 985 two year old plants that consist of five varieties: Duke, Patriot, Blueray, Bluecrop and Nelson. These varieties are known to produce large, juicy and sweet berries. We nurtured our babies for the first two years, mulching, weeding, irrigating, and pulling blooms to defeat fruiting and ensure a strong root system going forward. We opened the field for picking in 2013. Our picking season is expected to start in mid-June and run through early August.
It is recommended that you call us at 276-730-4047 prior to driving up to check on availability and picking times.
We would also ask that you register on our Contact Form page, so we can email you updates on the field. We will email coupons to those that do.
We also recommend that you have a hat, sunscreen and closed toe shoes when you come.
We have containers for you to use or you can bring your own.
We look forward to seeing and meeting you at our patch.
